Cake Stand

This project was special. I made a pattern out of scraps of plywood. Bored pilot holes after cutting circles and laying out for balance. Then I had approval of prototype. Next I found special scrap pieces of walnut with high quality grain details. Gluing up these pieces to show off special grain. Drilling pilot holes and 1/4” dowels assembled. Two coats of oil and three coats of varnish. Again approved by new owner.

I heard that the old set was in need of replacement, and that a hand rail would be well received. Upper surfaces are finished with non-slip material. Also incorporated, a small oak hand rail. Sanded and painted with oil base.

A friend of a friend had an old decapitated rotting wheelbarrow elements. The friend asked me to rebuild. Thought I could build a bunch, so I had a welding shop have a go. When duplicated, it became too expensive. Finished with two coats of outside decking sealer.
