Butterfly Chair

From log to finished product. Involved in each step. The craftsmanship in my hands accomplished a piece of art--in this instance "a flutter bie."

Commissioned Table

This is a commissioned piece of soft spalted maple.  I collaborated with the customer on style of legs.  I also discussed the joining intersection and agreed on this one.  The two pieces will be used as one with 3 different looks.

Plant Stand

A longtime friend saw a plant stand I had done in the past.  She liked it but it was too tall for her.  She asked if I could do a shorter one for her.  The top and the bottom were the maximum width for my equipment.

Basswood Bowl

I cut the tree down in my backyard.  I tried to turn this basswood when it was green.  It warped.  I let it sit on the lathe until it was dry and then finished turning it. This bowl is very thin.

Slab Tables

By harvesting a fallen maple tree, I could have lumber cut into my ideal thickness. These slabs were part of forward thinking and, as planned, they became reality after some lengthy deliberation about leg construction. The black walnut dowels added for strength and eye appeal. After discussing the bark idea with a couple sources, I attached the bark with two part epoxy. This added another level of eye appeal.

These are all sold, but I am available for commissions.

Sandbox Toy

While visiting a friend, he asked if I could fix a toy he had. Always one for a challenge, I accepted. After fixing his toy I made improvements in strength of parts that were broken and also in mimicking looks of the real toy. My modifications seem to work well.

Ornaments

At the beginning of 2014, I walked past a display of Christmas ornaments in a big box store.  I thought why not try those.  The pieces are made of black walnut and soft maple, quite similar in style, and finished well.
