This is a commissioned piece of soft spalted maple. I collaborated with the customer on style of legs. I also discussed the joining intersection and agreed on this one. The two pieces will be used as one with 3 different looks.

Slab Tables
By harvesting a fallen maple tree, I could have lumber cut into my ideal thickness. These slabs were part of forward thinking and, as planned, they became reality after some lengthy deliberation about leg construction. The black walnut dowels added for strength and eye appeal. After discussing the bark idea with a couple sources, I attached the bark with two part epoxy. This added another level of eye appeal.
These are all sold, but I am available for commissions.

Entry Tables
This black walnut table was built specifically for a small apartment entry hall. The experience was fun working with special wood. The crotch wood again shows its beauty.

While working on hall table, I found this piece. The piece was 8‛ x 2" x 8" and had knots in it. Because I couldn’t cut out the knots, I left them in. It is the “high heel table.”

Side Tables

[small table cross bars]

[leg detail]
The best part of these tables is the grain in the wood. The wood of major branches of the tree create burl-like grain details. I found ways to incorporate this grain detail in the tables. After sanding to 320 grit, I assembled them. Between each of the 2 coats oil and 3 coats polyurethane, I hand sanded with 400 grit and carefully tack clothed each surface. These tables will compliment any living room or can be used as bedside tables.
Four tables total; made to be sold as a set.
All four are approx. 2' tall
Two 24" wide
One 32" wide
One 36" wide
